Privacy and terms
The short version: what you give us is used only to run your own job search. It isn’t sold, and nothing is posted, sent or applied for in your name.
Who runs it
Apply Yourself is a free, invite-only service run by Spencer Cavendish Reed, a sole proprietor based in New York, United States (“we”).
What we keep
- Your name, the invite code you used and who it came from.
- What you give us to build your profile: answers, resumes and other files, pasted text, and voice notes (transcribed on our own server).
- Your profile, the postings found for you, your likes, skips and notes, reminders, and the drafts you ask for.
- If you connect Telegram, your chat with the Apply Yourself bot.
- If you ask for an invite, your name, the email or phone number you give, and your note. We use them only to send you a code.
- Ordinary server logs (such as IP addresses), used for security and to stop abuse.
How it’s used
To build your profile and resume, search job boards for you, rank postings, and draft applications when you ask. Each person’s material sits in its own private folder, and every AI run for you is sealed off so it can see only your folder and the public web. Your private link (or your Telegram chat) is the only way into your pages. The person who invited you sees only that you joined, by first name.
We can access stored data to run, fix and support the service. We don’t use your material for anything else.
AI providers
Profile building, ranking, chat and drafts run on Anthropic’s Claude and, when Claude is unavailable, OpenAI’s models. A request includes only the part of your material that the task needs. Each provider processes requests under its own terms; their retention and training policies differ and may change. AI output can be wrong: check every draft before you use it.
What we never do
- Sell or rent your information, or use it for advertising.
- Apply for jobs, contact employers, or send or post anything in your name.
- Show your material to other users.
Keeping and deleting
Your data is kept while your account is open. Ask us at any time (through the bot or by email) to delete your account, and we’ll delete your folder, pages and drafts. Backups age out on their normal schedule. You can also ask for a copy of what we hold.
Security
Your private link carries a long random key in the part of the address that browsers don’t send to servers; we store only a scrambled form (a hash) of it. Keep the link private: anyone who has it can open your pages. Connections are encrypted. No system is perfectly secure.
Terms of use
- Apply Yourself is an early, free service. It may change, pause or end, and we can close accounts.
- You are responsible for the applications you send. Drafts are suggestions, built only from what you gave us.
- Upload only material you have the right to share. Don’t upload other people’s confidential information.
- Invite codes are for people you know. Please don’t post them publicly or sell them.
- The service is provided as is, without warranties, to the extent the law allows.
- It isn’t meant for anyone under 16.
Changes and contact
If this note changes, we’ll update the date above. Questions, data requests or deletion: message the Apply Yourself bot, or email info@spencercav.com.
